Bender probeert daarom relaties tussen mensen en robots te legaliseren. Romantiek en gevaar volgen de crew op het ruimte cruiseschip Titanic. Daar wordt Fry verliefd op de zeemeermin Umbriel, en ontdekt de crew de verloren stad Atlanta, Georgia. Bij een poging alles weer in orde te maken, komt Bender in Amy’s lichaam terecht. Een pizzabezorger genaamd Philip J. Fry wordt ingevroren op 31 december 1999, en ontwaakt in het jaar 2999. Fry is forced to choose between friendship and television when Bender's antenna impairs cable reception at their stylish new apartment building. Hier ontmoet hij een cycloop en een robot, en gaat werken voor zijn nakomeling Professor Farnsworth. It's revealed in season one, episode eight, "A Big Piece of Garbage" that Ron Popeil (likeness and voice) appears and reveals that he invented the technology to keep disembodied human heads alive.
