The floor to ceiling windows were lovely. In fact,  I can't praise them enough for their friendly efficiency.The hotel is ideally located a short walk from the oldest fortified city in North America,  beautiful shops,  Laval University school of architecture,  and many fantastic photo ops. Luxurious setting filled with contemporary accents, central courtyard with swimming pool, indoor parking lot, Restaurant Beffroi Steak House within the hotel, privileged location right next to the d’Youville Place and the St. Jean Door, and more: Hotel Palace Royal provides an ideal setting for a fulfilling stay in Quebec City. You pay for underground parking, but with in and out privileges if you want to day trip or drive. But the food wasn't good. There are some oddities and caveats, though.The location is superb. My room had a balcony that faced the inside atrium pool area. Checkin was quick - albeit slightly marred by a rude clerk. Guests enjoy the locale. We ended up giving his family our room while figuring out the whole thing. Large comfortable tastefully appointed. All great but the in room complimentary coffee was tasteless. I very much enjoyed my stay at this lovely hotel. The maids do an excellent job keeping the rooms clean. It'd be challenging to get around on foot if you have issues walking at all. I had dinner and drinks at both the Beffroi and le Fou du Rou, service was great and attentive! The accommodations were spectacular in every way! I was really impressed with the convenience store in the basement level and the laundromat downstairs! We ate there once for breakfast and had the buffet. But great location. Visited this hotel twice in a span of 4 weeks, and I'm glad I did not write a review right after my stay, as both stays were for different reasons, with different outcomes. The next night was a young woman - she chatted with us and kept us entertained the entire time we were there.The front desk staff was great, and the concierge helped us form our tourist plan, complete with complimentary maps and recommendations.We didn't end up using the pool, but it looked great too.Overall great experience. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return if we came back to Old Quebec. The beans were dry and like paste. Fortunately, it was us. The bed was comfy. Enjoy free WiFi, an indoor pool, and a restaurant. The scrambled eggs were too salty. We got a little family suite that was quiet (relative to the other guests) and well-appointed. Also, there's a very ornamental french door with glass windows separating the main room from the bedroom which is completely useless: it doesn't block light or sound from one room to the other, so what's the point of having a suite? The room was nice and I like that the floors were not carpeted since I have dust allergies and flooring is better for them. It was just outside of the Old Quebec City's walls - just a stone's throw, which was perfect since each time we walked out of the hotel we got to immediately pass through the ancient gate and into a whole new world. Our first night here we were lucky, because they had a Festival going on and we were able to enjoy live music right outside the hotel. First, they gave my parent in law's room (they are both over 70 year old) away. It was so cute and comfortable, it even had a working fireplace! Standard buffet style food and pricy although it seems like all many restaurants in old Quebec are a bit pricy. The underground parking garage is very convenient and priced better than other garages in the area, as you can keep your car there until 18:00 on the day of departure. It's just a block above the citadelle wall, and our 9th floor room had a fantastic view of the Saint Laurent and the sights of the old upper town. (The interior rooms have balconies overlooking the atrium/pool.) Gym was small, but didn't really matter since nobody else was there while we used it. The hotel itself is great! In the center there's a pool and the noise traveled up to the top floor. The pool/jacuzzi was neat. Soap, shampoo dispensers in the showers were very seemingly misplaced and tacky. We booked our week long stay for an excellent price through Expedia.Our room was an attractively appointed suite. Just walk around the corner and you will be in the old part - it's right next to the historic wall. It is in the perfect location, right at the brink of Old Quebec. Double doors led from our living space to our king bed. If u go to Quebec City and stay here,  get room 920 or 1020 for view of the harbor. We stopped at the hotel bar both nights we were there. At our dinner there was some  mistake with our order and it took an hour and a half to get our food. The lot was convient but had extremely tight spaces (would not recommend for suvs/minivans).
