Driehorst Shelter. This is my third time staying at the Wilson Lodge but the first time staying in the lakeside wing. I have been going to the Wilson lodge since I was a little girl. It took us about 20 minutes just to find where our room was. The trolley ride for the light show was not good. hotels. !I cleaned up the toilet and sink areas myself. STAY AWAY FROM HERE! Oglebay is a unique 1,700-acre, year-round resort with exceptional beauty and abundant recreational activities. Our room was lovely,comfortable and super clean! The balcony was nice, though we barely used it. We wanted to avoid travel during the summer due to all the people, and thought this time of year would be better with kids back in school. Lodge/Cottage Check-in. The lodge was clean and everyone was so friendly, the food was great and the Festival of Lights was better than I imagined. I loved it! This leads me to believe that even negative reviews do not inspire Oglebay to address this issue. Crispin Golf Course Par 3 Golf Course. We spent the weekend in one of the 4 bedroom cottages this weekend. Could not have had a better weekend. There was free Wifi, but it never worked the entire time I was there. Free wifi throughout the lodge and in the rooms is also standard. I had toured Oglebay Park on previous occasions, but this was my first opportunity to stay overnight at the Lodge. We've been to Oglebay before, but never stayed at the resort, so I decided to give it a try. The interior and exterior landscaping at the Lodge is also wonderful. Our cottage alone was over $1,000 for two nights. Even if you are not a Wheeling area local, you'll know within minutes of your arrival that Oglebay Park is a special and beautiful place. I am not sure if they still do that now, but it was a highlight for our family to all get together and have a nice breakfast there! Our room had a deck, fireplace, fridge and a LARGE bathroom. Saturday was the day I would FINALLY get to stay here. If you are in Wheeling for a visit, reserve a few for Wilson Lodge and for Oglebay. We all lost a lot of sleep because the mouse ran around at night and scared some of us. There were dust and spiderwebs everywhere. I gave a star for the room in the new section and a star for the decor.Other than that we had a bad experience. They have a common area that has entertainment in the evenings. Even though a cabin works out better for our group, we'll go back to staying in the rooms at Wilson Lodge. I wish I could at least say you get what you pay for, but that's not the case...the rates are ridiculous for what you get. The nature center is also a short walk or drive away, and the trails there are shady and pleasant even on a humid summer afternoon. FO M. HO LI. The outdoor swimming pool at Oglebay is also amazing!The business center next to the reception desk has 4 fast PC stations and a printer, helpful for checking in for flights and printing boarding passes, etc. The easy access to the indoor pool (we could walk there from our room's patio, which faced the inner courtyard) made morning swims at 7 am a great way to begin the day. It pretty much gives you the creepy crawlies...more about that later.The walls in that section are paper thin, so late at night the exuberant kids next door AND their TV came through loud and clear. A rare municipal park that actually takes the public mission seriously by offering green spaces and recreation places at low cost to people of all ages and classes, Oglebay wows you with its green hillsides, manicured golf courses, deliciously retro outdoor swimming pool, quiet woodland nature trails, and fun-for-the-kids pleasures like miniature golf, paddle boating, petting zoo, train rides, gift shops, ice cream parlor, and deer watching areas. Resort Shop Restaurants. Everything was very clean. We came for the festival of lights so we got the festival of lights package. We ended up with a nice patio and the lodge was clean, however, everything was extremely old in the room and the toilet did not flush well! The seating areas are not very comfortable and for unknown reasons - in the middle of the living room there sits a round coffee height table, with four chairs surrounding it. Well? Beware.Room Tip: Do NOT accept a room ANYWHERE in this hotel other than the newest wing! They said they tried to call. Don't eat here! Since it was chilly at night, we turned it on each night. more.
