Homework doesn't help, and you basically have to study hard on your own and guess what's going to be on the exams. Totally hands off. Difficult class, lots of assignments and many assignments unclear. I normally don't rate professors, but Brother Parker is amazing! He definitely cares about the class, and readily admits his class is super easy. Take him, you won't regret it! At least he curves the exam grades. Ive never though learning and school could be such a happy place. He's a nice enough guy but honestly doesn't put much effort into helping individual students with their work. Tries to be funny. The work load is the best--as in you have an insight paper for each class and that's it. Remember you can't take a flash card anymore. There are some religion teachers that go too fast for me or go too deep in doctrine, but he will go as fast as the students need and only goes as deep as we ask him to so everybody can understand and gain insight from the class. Your classmates "grade" your final and count what you did and you're good! You have to do is a short prep assignment for each class, and take notes in class, but no word count, it can be as short as you want. It is competitive and challenging, and I have learned so much. He does an amazing job teaching about the Bible, and makes it interesting. Loads of companies respect BYU and we are number one in many departments. After a while though it got kind of redundant. 3 assignments a week with a group discussion board (busy work) every exam. Definitely taking another class from him. Provo is not Los Angeles or New York City but its a very safe place, surprising amount of things to do. Help out your fellow students. He keeps doctrine simple, but I learned more from this class than any other religion class. I understand everyone has different experiences, but this school changed my life.
