I find it to be as good as, if not better than, Wingspan. Are those scars, is it makeup? Lots of games with random card deals do. 7 Wonders Duel, 51st State/Imperial Settlers and even Wingspan, all blow it out of the water. i don't mind a game with some randomness if there are ways to mitigate it.

i'm not sure how long the list of those is, but that combo is new to me! You start with nothing so feel every decision is vital but the space you have to make it in is huge. Catan comes to mind here. I found Everdell much more pleasant than I expected. i don't highly regard games where newbies have an even shot at winning. If it wasn't so ridiculously overproduced, it would be utterly forgettable.
