All excursions use diesel locomotives. The leaves were patchy at this time, but the view was still beautiful ! In regards to the train ride, the last 30 to 45 minutes of trip to Petersburg was boring and monotonous as it is mostly going through farm land.

There are a few seats in that car I wouldn't have liked as much because their back faced the window, one that didn't have a window seat (in the back) and others were on the side of the train that didn't have much of a view. Sorry, no smoking, pets, or alcoholic beverages permitted. We were one of the lucky ones whose seat faced the window on the side of the train with the best views.
