Gloomheaven and Sword&Sorcery are hard opponents now. so long ffg opened a gap that other game publishers jumped it. I'm with Vardaine. If there's going to be a 3rd edition, I'd rather the effort is put into it to really make it distinct from the second edition (possibly as distinct as the 2nd edition is from the original Descent). probably fffg really fears them, afraid to produce their next non-starter flop. Descent's distinguishing feature is the overlord opponent. There should be a 3rd edition of descent, to keep in that market. the whole terrinoth series is dead now and it would surprise me if ffg would resurrect it. In Road to Legend, one to four hero players must work together to overcome the challenges presented to them by a companion app which takes the place of the overlord player. Descent: Journeys in the Dark is a semi-cooperative game in which two to five players will take on the antagonistic roles of heroes and Overlord. My questions are: In Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition), one player takes on the role of the treacherous overlord, and up to four other players take on the roles of courageous heroes. Without that, it becomes (in my eyes) a medicore dungeon crawl. Road to Legend provides a new way to play Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition and its expansions. Much of the gameplay for Road to Legend is the same as it is in the core game. A 3rd edition based on co-op app play would be DOA for me. Also, I've a hard time finding information regarding the incoming 3rd edition of Descent. With the recent launch of the massive darkness 2 KS and the leaks of Descent 3rd edition in July, I would like to gather some insights from people who have experience with both games. Up to four players will choose characters with a wide assortment of skills and innate abilities to be the heroes who will explore dungeons in search of treasure and adventure. A 3rd edition with a conversion kit is (in my opinion) too middle of the road. A 3rd edition keeping the overlord mechanic would have big shoes to fill, and would need to be a significant improvement on D2e. Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition is a board game in which one player takes on the role of the treacherous overlord, and up to four other players take on the roles of courageous heroes. Expect additional details about Descent: Legends of the Dark to be announced at Fantasy Flight Games' In-Flight Report on July 29th at 7 PM ET on their Twitch channel.
